Description
Microsoft’s Skype for Business Server 2019 software is a communication and collaboration platform that combines security, compliance, and enterprise-level control. Skype for Business Server 2019 enables customers to continue to use Skype for Business in a local environment, making it easier to leverage key cloud technologies. New Skype features for Business Server 2019 include Cloud Voicemail, Call Data Connector, parallel migration, and team migration.
Unified messaging services: Cloud Voicemail
Cloud Voicemail support allows all Skype for Business 2019 users to access Cloud Voicemail. Cloud Voicemail provides the following benefits for both local and online users:
- Access voicemail in the Exchange mailbox using Skype for Business Online, Teams or Outlook clients.
- The ability to use a web portal to manage their voicemail settings.
Call Data Connector
Call Data Connector makes it much easier to monitor calls in a hybrid environment by using online tools to monitor the quality of user calls. With Call Data Connector, you can perform the following tasks using one set of tools:
- Monitor user interfaces between Microsoft teams, Skype for Business on the Internet and Skype for Business Servers.
- Viewing and troubleshooting the network.
- Assign a support role to Call Analytics so that you can view and troubleshoot issues in your areas of responsibility.
Installation and Update: Simultaneous Migration
With a parallel migration, a new server running Skype for Business Server 2019 can be deployed next to the corresponding server on which the previous version is installed (Skype for Business Server 2015 or Lync Server 2013), and then operations with the new server can be transferred. If you need to go back to the previous version, you only need to transfer operations to the original servers.
Other functions also include:
- The simplified Migration team.
- Support for TLS 1.2 to improve security.
- Added support for Windows Server 2019 and continued support for Windows Server 2016.
